Episode 1 - You're in the Army Now

I’m dying…

I feel the blood bursting from my belly badly, and without any Medical unit around I really do not think that I can make it…

At this point I feel myself fading… My thoughts wander thought different times and spaces… I glimpse friendly faces, angry foes, rivals, and old loves… I can’t feel my legs… and I feel blood in my mouth…

I remember Leonor, my baby kid… the reason that I enlist myself in the Kollective… After all, I wanted her to have a future… but now I failed her…

I still remember my first day in the Army…

"More maggoty meat for the grinder." Those were the first words from a withered man wearing sergeant's stripes scratches notes into a filthy ledger.

"Welcome to the 1099th Volunteers," he says, his shout nearly drowned out by the sound of nearby gunfire.

"Get your squad some gear and get your asses over the wall. If you survive, you will find me waiting here. My name is Petrovo."

My new born 6 man squad went silent as we pick through a pile of cast-off weapons. There is little to say when facing imminent death.

I was nervous, as I looked around my squad, I had nothing to identify myself to those persons, and even our most graduated member and team leader managed to square me to death with her presence, but I think that the others think the same.

Our mission was a simple patrol thought a Machine zone, and to destroy any machine units that we encounter on our way, so most of us didn’t had any hope in returning, but hey, not everyone had been like myself and enlisted themselves voluntary… Some of us were obligated to be here, and then others… well others had their own agendas.

My squad for this mission consisted in our team leader General Danova, two Red Brigade members, that were always talking to each other’s and when turning to the others they were constantly saying with a smile that we could trust them, as they were there to cover our backs.

But we also had a Nightkrawler, full geared and ready to the night fall. The rest of the team, I wasn’t so sure about them, as we had a Medical Pharmacer, but he was shaking badly, maybe he was high with some pharmaceutical drug, I really do not know. And to pay for his crimes against the Kollective, we had a Penal Trooper, and he was the only one that had not spoken all the time, and then, well there was me… just a private in this endless war… But that didn’t stop us as we’re dropped in the Machine zone by a Spirit Gunship, which disappeared in the skies as soon as dropped us all…

Chekov, one of the Red Brigade was the first one to patrol, as we were all searching for safe places in the perimeter area. Some minutes before he was telling us that he was a man with no luck… That was showed as he was spotted by a 6649 "Probe", one of the most annoying Machine units a small squad could find. But the machine starts making his presence felt, as Chekov was wounded, making Lian, our Medical Pharmacer, enter play escorted by Piotr, the other Red Brigade member.

But as the three were trying to destroy the probe… another one arrives to the spot, but this time she’s not alone; with her comes a 99C8 "Stalker", one of the first machines unit to be made and, in the mayhem Chekov is trespassed by the machines fire.

At this point there’s me, Lian and Piotr, trying to stop the three machines advance in the battlefield… but with no success, as they were continuing charging against us…

Then, suddenly, we’re blessed with a Improvised Transport and his driver, which I hadn't time to know, was shot by the Stalker seconds latter, making me jump into that old piece of junk and grab the wheels to gain control of it…

In the confusion Lian destroy the first Probe, only to die at the “hands” of the Stalker…

We stop for a second and in a blink of an eye, two more machines units appear… and for our rejoice, they were another 6649 "Probe" and a 99C8 "Stalker", as if the ones that we had beyond us weren’t enough.

Piotr dies seconds before I, in our Improvised Transport, manage to destroy the first Stalker and with his death our morale start dropping down fast… if not for the arrival of General Danova, Kovak the Nightkrawler and Jonas the Penal Trooper, we would be doomed for sure…

Danova with one strike destroy one of the two remaining Probes, but our morale is far behind the machines morale, and theirs stand a little more as they manage to find a way to lock Kovak, making his stealth vain…

He may have died, but he gave us the opening that we need, as our morale still stands, the machines morale starts to fall. In a change of luck we manage to clear the table, destroying the remaining machines…

As the surviving members of my squad enter my Improvised Transport to ride back to the Kollective lines, since our mission was over, we know that we might have won this battle, but something's really wrong. This mission was just to cover up something… and one day I will find out about it…

Maybe not right now, but someday the loss of Chekov, Lian, Piotr and Kovak, will not be in vain. And even knowing that they believed in the cause, I know that this can’t be always like this…

* * * * *

… GOD… I was so naive then… If I only knew… maybe I wouldn't be like this right now… I’m losing too much blood… I really don't think that I can make it…

Duels

Photobucket

Duels is a new kind of strategy game. A free, player vs. player (PVP) fantasy role playing game, Duels allows you to control your own destiny as you combine the detailed character building and advancement of massively multi-player online role-playing games (MMORPGs) with the strategic and collectible elements of collectible card games (CCGs).

The tantalizing thing about Duels, though, is that it's a short-form, asynchronous game. You can jump in and play in 10-30 minute intervals and still advance your gameplay. You control everything about the game with the luxury of playing when you have time. This makes you the master of Duels, not the other way around.

Once you sign up, it's your job to create your avatar combining the perfect selection of attributes, skills, battle experience and equipment needed to best your opponents in head-to-head combat.

You can also buy equipment, including packs containing random useful loot. This comes in handy when you want to trade and sell items to other players. You never know what people will covet.

With each duel, you get to further customize your special abilities and collectible items. The rewards you gain from winning a duel can be used to win gold and tokens, as well as to increase your physical and mental attributes.

Duels Warstorm

Photobucket

You are a warlord leading a mighty army! Assemble squads of heroes, soldiers, and dangerous beasts, then send those squads into battle against other armies. Your units will fight through your opponent's defenses and destroy the army's morale -- but the opponent's army will be seeking to do the same to you.

Warstorm offers players the ability to collect cards and use those cards to form battle decks. As early as level one you can choose to match wits and armies with other players or against non player characters. As you win battles or unlock achievements, you will gain levels which will give you access to more cards in order to field more armies.

However, victory is not just assured by the sheer number of forces alone. You must choose your forces carefully -- your victory depends on exploiting your opponents' weaknesses and getting strong cards into play as quickly as possible. The more players you defeat, the higher your ranking in the ladder system. Work hard, and you will dominate everyone in the storm.
